well, christmas was fun… tiring, but fun. we had 3 days of christmas because my parents are divorced so we did the 23rd with mary’s family, the 24th (my birthday, happy b-day to me!) with my dad’s side of the family, the allen’s, and the 25th at my mom’s house for the anthonies family christmas. mary had to work on the 24th but carter and i made it just fine even though i forgot to bring our normal 3-5 bibs because carter is teething so he soaks his bibs in drool and spit-up. so great gramz and i made an emergency wal-mart run because she wanted a new digital camera and carter really needed those bibs. anyway, we had a great christmas and of course took lots of pictures and videos. the pictures are posted here and the videos are on their way. here’s a couple picture highlights…

the logo… is finally… centered. you have no idea how good i feel about that.

the photo gallery is now fixed. no more temp carter album and crap like that. ALL of the pictures are in the gallery and in the right spot however some of the posts that referenced albums “2-3 months” and “3-4 months” won’t show the pictures they once referenced because, well in basic terms, the post doesn’t know where the pictures are… i’ll have to go back through each of those posts and figure out which pictures were referenced and point the post in the right direction so the pictures show back up. i realize that people probably don’t go back through the old posts just to look at pictures since all of the pictures can be found in the photo gallery but, i’m kind of anal about my website, so i’ll probably go back through all 119 or so posts and replace the missing pictures…

sorry for the confusion with the albums, it shouldn’t happen again.

also, while trying to figure all this out, i discovered that most of the file sizes of the full size pictures was huge which means we never resized them. if the picture is a 2048×1536 resolution picture then the files size on the server is between 1.5 and 2Mb which is very un-webfriendly. it will take forever to load and if you have dial-up, fughettaboutit. i took the liberty of resizing all of the pictures so now they are a more webfriendly file size. just click on the link below a picture that says “view full picture” and boom, the picture should load really quick. here’s the fun part. if i use the Windows XP Power Toy called Image Resizer, which can be found here, you can resize the image but keep the same resolution and the file size is tiny. for instance, a picture that is 2048×1536 and 1.5Mb will still be 2048×1536 but the file size will be about 300Kb without losing any image quality. it’s magic. for all of you folks out there who take all kinds of digital pictures, it’s the best picture resizing tool there is. for windows… enjoy.
